Beyond May Day

Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring a homemade sign focused on one specific way that the Trump administration is harming science, research, and/or public health. We will be distributing flyers emphasizing how those attacks are part and parcel of attacks on immigrant and workers' rights, and postcards for pressuring UMN President Rebecca Cunningham to commit to a Big 10 mutual defense compact to defend science for the public good.

Minnesotans are standing up in inspiring numbers against Donald Trump's and Elon Musk's radical attacks on workers & our collective bargaining rights, public services and our communities. On May 13, working people from across the state are saying "'Hands Off!' our critical services from Medicaid to our environment to public schools. We are standing up to stop attacks on workers and to protect ALL our communities, including our immigrant neighbors.

Many grocery store workers have to work multiple jobs just to afford to pay the rent and keep food on the table. Saving for a house or for retirement is out of the question.

This May Day, we will turn the page. This is the beginning of a new era—one where working families lead, immigrants are protected, and no one is left behind. This is not charity. This is not a request. Workers are reclaiming their power.

At 8:30am we'll go live with a Zoom press conference that will highlight a few of the actions happening during our Week of Action - tune in at 8:30am to engage live or watch the recording afterward!

On May Day 2025 we are standing united. We're organizing for a world where every family has housing, healthcare, fair wages, union protection, and safety—regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status.

They’re defunding our schools, privatizing public services, attacking unions, and targeting immigrant families with fear and violence. This is a war on working people—and we will not stand down. Using the principles of nonviolence and peaceful protest, we will stand together and stand strong.

WE ARE THE MANY. THEY ARE THE FEW. THIS IS MAY DAY. JOIN US.

About

Minnesotans are joining the national call to action to stop the billionaire takeover this May Day. Workers and community members will be standing up in over 100 cities across the nation.

No matter your race, zip code, or immigration status you are under attack from billionaires who have bought off our politicians and rigged the system to crush working-class families.

What is the billionaire agenda?

  • Defund our schools
  • Privatize public services like Social Security, and Medicaid
  • Attack unions (trying to eliminate the collective bargaining rights of over 1 million federal workers)
  • Target immigrant families with fear and violence, including snatching legal immigrants from the streets in broad daylight.

Together, we will not let them win. In Minnesota, during the week of April 26th- May 3rd, MN organizations representing thousands of workers and community members will bring their fights for what WE deserve to the streets. On May 1st, we will collectively rally at the capitol to march for workers and immigrants!

Stop the billionaire takeover. We are the many. They are the few. May Day 2025.
